How to choose a trade school in Phoenix
Start with the work you want to do, then compare the training. A vocational school, technical school and apprenticeship can each offer a different learning experience. Ask how much time you spend practicing, what you will build or repair, and which requirements you must meet to complete the program.
Phoenix Masonry School specializes in masonry and construction fundamentals. Our published programs include the Masonry Certificate, NCCER CORE Certificate and Online Learning Program. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding and carpentry appear in this guide to help you compare options; they are not advertised as enrollment programs at our school.
Masonry vs. other skilled trade training
The best fit depends on the tasks you enjoy and the training available. Use these examples to decide which workshops and schools to visit.

What do you learn in masonry school?
Masonry combines physical practice with measurement, planning and craftsmanship. Students work with mortar, mason lines, levels, brick, concrete block, and natural or manufactured stone. Practice includes laying courses, building corner leads, forming joints and developing consistent finishing techniques.
Our Masonry Certificate is approximately 300 clock hours. A full-time plan typically takes around six to eight weeks; part-time attendance takes longer. Review the current hours, skills and completion requirements with admissions.

NCCER CORE introduces safety, construction math, hand and power tools, drawings, materials handling, communication and employability skills. It can help you explore construction before selecting a specialized craft.
CORE provides a foundation. It does not replace specialized HVAC, electrical, plumbing or other craft training. Ask the next training provider how it recognizes prior CORE completion.
